Responsibilities This position will be responsible for creating and managing a portfolio of potential and existing industry partners with an emphasis on creating industry sponsored research partnerships utilizing the unique intellectual property and facilities at FSU, including orchestrating meetings between FSU administrators, research faculty/staff and potential industry partners; and, with support of the licensing managers, conveying the research capacity of FSU including facilities and expertise.

The incumbent will work closely with Deans, Department Chairs, and most importantly with research faculty/staff to match the expertise and facilities at FSU with the needs of industry to create industry sponsored research opportunities; including educating Colleges, Departments, and researchers on interactions with industry including differences in education and industry objectives and how the objectives of industry and education can coincide, as well as managing expectations of both industry partners and FSU researchers and administrative personnel regarding parameters and expectations of industry FSU interactions.

The incumbent will also advise Colleges and Departments regarding opportunities for industry relationships and conducting interactions with industry. Promotes industry academic/educational interactions such as student internships and employment opportunities and faculty/staff exchanges with industry. Works with industry and business leaders to advance FSU’s research interests.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience in a related field; or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of experience in the same. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

    A self-starter, comfortable working independently while working well in a team oriented environment, taking the initiative to be productive and efficient.Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously and accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Excellent communication skills to include effective and persuasive writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills.Detail oriented and organized with an ability to meet deadlines and goals.Proficiency in the Microsoft Office products suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), or equivalent software.

Anticipated Salary Range

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.
