About Us The Department, located within the College of Science and Mathematics, is composed of 12 full-time faculty members with expertise across a broad spectrum of psychological disciplines. We have a strong commitment to providing research opportunities to our students in addition to excellent classroom instruction. The undergraduate program, which is one of the top undergraduate majors at the university, offers a BS, with a Pre-Medicine track option, and a minor. The Master’s degree program offers three concentrations: MPCAC accredited Clinical/Counseling, Applied Experimental, and General Experimental.
Augusta University is one of four research universities in the University System of Georgia and the state’s only public academic medical center, offering over 150 degree programs from bachelor’s to doctoral. In July 2021, the College of Science and Mathematics moved into a new state-of-the-art building for research and teaching located on the Health Sciences Campus in close proximity to the Medical College of Georgia, Dental College of Georgia, Georgia Cancer Center, the Augusta University, and Norwood VA medical centers. The Department has laboratories for the study of humans and animals, and the University offers outstanding core facilities and a dedicated research MRI.

Research program in social neuroscience with an interest in age-related conditions, inflammation, and Alzheimer’s disease is preferred. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching and will be expected to establish an externally funded research program suitable for training both graduate and undergraduate students. Applicants will teach undergraduate and graduate courses that align with their areas of expertise, and contribute to the educational mission of the department. The ability to teach graduate social psychology is desirable. This is a nine-month appointment, with the possibility of summer employment. Salary and startup package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum Requirements Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience or related field from an accredited college or university.
