Departmental Objective:

Process financial transactions in accordance with State and University policies and procedures.

Purpose of the Position:

Responsible for performing Accounts Payable functions, processing all University disbursements in accordance with State and University policies, and entering data into the Financial Accounting System.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:

Required:

Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and procedures

Ability to analyze fiscal transactions for conformity with procedures and regulations

Ability to accurately perform detailed work with numerical data

Good oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of computerized financial accounting reports

Proficiency in use of office equipment (calculator, personal computer, computer terminal, etc.)

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Required: Experience in a high volume, fast paced accounts payable office. Experience using an interactive accounting system and interpreting output reports. Experience analyzing fiscal transactions for conformity with procedures and regulations. Experience working with internal and external customers to discuss financial processes or issues.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :

Education Preferred: Some business courses at a business school or college level

Experience Preferred: Experience using SCT Banner. Experience working in a government accounting office. Experience using Excel.
