Title: Assistant Director of Career Development

Description: The Assistant Director of Career Development (ADCD) supports FlightPath--Hartwick College’s future-focused approach to a liberal arts education and embedded career development--programs, services, and events that help students prepare for their careers. This position is responsible for the resource and systems coordination of real-world work experience and mentorship, event planning, communications, evaluation and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Point person for technology platforms associated with FlightPath real-world work experience (Handshake) and student to alumni mentorship programs (PeopleGrove)
  • Customer service, training and support
  • Project management and logistics coordination for large events
  • Coordinate and contribute to print, digital and social media communications
  • Supervise student workers
  • Collaboration and partnerships with faculty, alumni, parents, campus offices and community partners
  • Assess and report on post-graduate destinations, department programs and service strategies
  • Recommend improvements and implement changes necessary to expand career development opportunities and networks for students and alumni
  • Comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational regulations.
  • As a representative of the College, expected to comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, engagement and affinity for the College
  • Work occasional nights and weekends and participate in major campus activities, including Welcome Week, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 3 years of experience in a similar position/related field. Prefer Master’s degree plus one year of related experience.

  • Significant experience interacting with diverse audiences, including students, faculty, staff, employers, community organizations, and alumni
  • Knowledge of and experience with office technology and collaboration tools of Microsoft Office and Google suites, CRM databases and publishing programs; online networking and social media sites such as LinkedIn
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Think critically and creatively and to organize and analyze data to solve problems
  • Ability to quickly organize, execute, evaluate and adapt
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Interest and ability to work as a productive member in a cross-functional team
  • Experience in marketing including print, online, and social media development a plus
  • Leadership experience a plus
  • Experience with Handshake and/or PeopleGrove software platforms a plus

Athletics
Hartwick sponsors 18 intercollegiate teams, 8 for men and 10 for women. Hartwick sports compete at the NCAA Division III level. Many of Hartwick's Division III teams participate in the Empire 8 conference.
