Position Description

The Department of Clinical Science at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Academic Year) with the appointment starting in Fall 2022.

Clinical Science Department

The Department of Clinical Science offers the Bachelor of Science in Clinical Science with options in Medical Technology (CLS/MLS) and Cytotechnology and the Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Science: Medical Technology and Cytotechnology.The MT/MLS program option is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) and is the sponsoring institution for multiple affiliated laboratories approved to provide clinical training for its eligible students by the California Department of Public Health, Laboratory Field Services

The Position

The Department of Clinical Science at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for Tenure Track position at rank of Assistant Professor faculty position in its National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) MLS/MT Program.

Responsibilities

Teaching duties are focused on disciplinary courses for undergraduate and postbaccalureate students, including pre/post clinical lectures and labs and clinical correlation discussion courses. The faculty is expected to advise students and assist with on-going student learning outcomes and assessment activities. The faculty member is expected to demonstrate a record of scholarship and service in alignment with the Department’s Reappointment, Tenure and Promotion (RTP) guidelines.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds;
  • Master's or Doctoral degrees in Clinical Laboratory Science or related fields;
  • Demonstrate adequate knowledge and proficiency in their content area;
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level;
  • Certified professional in their respective fields;
  • Clinical laboratory experience and/or previous teaching experience;
  • A record of or potential for successful scholarship;
  • A record of university and/or professional service.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Science, Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology certified and/or licensed by ASCP-BOC.
  • Employment Requirement – Background Check

    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate’s, Doctor’s of Philosophy).
