Job Summary

WUTV is a public access, educational station that serves as an experiential learning lab for Mass Communications majors, particularly those concentrating in Convergence Journalism and Digital Media & Telecommunication. The Executive Producer provides instructional support and secondary supervision of applied learning opportunities for skills courses related to aforementioned concentrations; oversees day-to-day operation of student-produced and student-managed programs and newscasts while assisting students with originating, researching, writing, and producing programs and news stories; supervises technical production of programs and newscasts from inception to broadcast; assists students with developing digital content for programs and news stories; recruits, trains, mentors, and supervises student staff; aids in maintaining station website and acts as a liaison between the WUTV General Manager and student staff. Executive Producer possesses a thorough knowledge of budget logistics and has the ability to estimate cost, ascertain vendor quotes, and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

Operations - 60

Oversees day-to-day operation of student-produced and student-managed programs and newscasts while assisting students with originating, researching, writing, and producing programs and news stories; supervises technical production of programs and newscasts from inception to broadcast; assists students with developing digital content for programs and news stories; recruits, trains, mentors, and supervises student staff; aids in maintaining station website and acts as a liaison between the WUTV General Manager and student staff. Possesses a thorough knowledge of budget logistics and has the ability to estimate cost, ascertain vendor quotes, and prepare reports.

Instructional support/supervision - 25
Provides instructional support and secondary supervision of applied learning opportunities for skills courses related to Convergence Journalism and Digital Media & Telecommunication concentrations

Student staffing/development - 15
Manages application process for programs and newscast, student staff positions, and makes recommendations regarding said hires, terminations, and disciplinary actions; and evaluates student performance

Plans and leads student leadership and professional development initiatives

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications or related field required,

Required Experience
Minimum of two years of experience utilizing Adobe Suite; a minimum of two years of experience with collegiate television pre-production, production, and post production utilizing television control room hardware and software along with specialized systems such as TelVue, NewTek TriCaster, and Inception. A minimum of one year of television news experience with pre-production, production and post-production. Experience with budgets, gathering vendor quotes, and crafting reports.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
Minimum of three years of experience working with and/or supervising collegiate broadcast media or a minimum of two to five years of supervisory professional experience in the broadcast news industry
Minimum of two to four years of professional experience in developing digital content for programs and news stories; a minimum of two years of professional experience utilizing Adobe Suite applications;

Minimum of two years of experience operating specialized systems such as TelVue, NewTek TriCaster, and/or Inception.

Minimum of three years of television news and/or programs experience with control room hardware and software along with pre-production, production, and post-production experience

Minimum of two years of experience in social media management

Experience with budgets, gathering vendor quotes, and crafting reports.

Proposed Salary

$$35,796 - $40,956
