Job Description
Successful candidate will work under direct supervision of the HVAC Manager on a part time basis. Selected candidate’s duties include but not limited to; maintaining mechanical systems across campus, trouble shoot and diagnose mechanical systems, assist full time HVAC Mechanics as needed, responding to service calls, enter time daily, establish and maintain strong communication with coworkers and customers, follow safety protocols, and participate in training opportunities. It is recommended candidate is comfortable working in confined spaces, around high temperature hot water, high pressure steam, and high voltage.

MAINTENANCE - 40%

  • Maintaining mechanical systems across campus.

TROUBLESHOOTING-40 %

  • Trouble shoot and diagnose mechanical systems.

CUSTOMER SERVICE - 10%

  • Assist full time HVAC Mechanics as needed, responding to service calls, enter time daily, establish and maintain strong communication with coworkers and customers.

PROCEDURE - 5%

  • Follow safety protocols and participate in training opportunities.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED - 5%

  • It is recommended candidate is comfortable working in confined spaces, around high temperature hot water, high pressure steam, and high voltage.


Minimum Qualifications
    High school degree AND1-2 years of HVAC work experience OR A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used.

Preferred Qualifications
    EPA 608 Certification.6 months experience in the HVAC field in a service role.Strong communication skills.Experience with electrical troubleshooting.Basic knowledge of the refrigeration cycle.Able to work independently and in a team setting.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Salary

Hour salary range begins at $17.25 per hour. Hourly salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


FLSA Status

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.

This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position.
