Concordia College, Moorhead, MN invites applicants with a Ph.D. in biological sciences with a strong knowledge of aquatic ecology or limnology for a tenure track position in the Biology Department. Teaching responsibilities include the introductory biology course Evolution and Diversity, a sophomore ecology course, and development of an upper-level course that includes an outdoor learning component in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will have access to the school’s Long Lake Field Station and pontoon for both instruction and research. This person will also be a representative of the department by advising and/or acting as a member of the Long Lake Betterment Association. The successful candidate may also participate in the Environmental and Sustainability Studies program.
 

Concordia College is dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education. Demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching and development of an active research program with undergraduate students are essential. Undergraduates typically present their research at regional and national meetings and are encouraged to publish their results in professional journals.
 

In addition to teaching and research, Biology faculty are involved with departmental affairs through bi-weekly meetings as well as serving on department or college wide committees. Faculty involved with outdoor research also assist with the management and operation of the Long Lake Field Station. Faculty are committed to student success and advise our students both formally and informally throughout the year regarding courses or post-graduation decisions. Other duties may arise based upon department needs.
 

The Biology Department includes ten full-time faculty and three support staff members committed to innovation in undergraduate education. Biology is the largest liberal arts major on campus, averaging 55-65 graduates per year.

Minimum Qualifications: 
PhD in Aquatic Biology/Ecology or related area. ABD Considered.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching and enthusiasm for working with undergraduates.
