Job Summary
Provides administrative, technical, and field support for the Life Safety and Security Shop. Major duties include coordination of internal and contracted fire alarm/suppression/life safety inspections, coordination of contracted fire alarm, life safety and security service work, coordination of procurement and inventory. Also provides general administrative support to management personnel. Receives direct supervision from the Life Safety and Security Manager. Receives indirect supervision from Building Maintenance Manager. May receive technical advice and direction shop personnel.
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of related work experience.
- Current valid Massachusetts Class D Driver’s license.
- Skill and knowledge in database programs.
- Skill, knowledge, and demonstrated ability to utilize Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office computer applications to support and organize work.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and understand complicated work schedules.
- Proficiency in reading and using construction drawings and documents.
- Experience working in an operation involving facilities.
- Unrestricted ability to visit job sites as required.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems using critical thinking skills and deductive reasoning.
- Skill and knowledge in oral, written, and interpersonal communication with a diverse customer population.
- Understanding of a service-oriented work atmosphere and the ability to apply this concept to daily work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as building plans, hardware specifications, operating manuals, and software instructions.
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to organize multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to monitor work of contractor staff.
- Ability to write clearly and accurately.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, precautions, and safety practices related to job function.
- Ability to perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
- Ability to drive in performing work duties at campus locations.

- Operates motor vehicle to travel to work sites as needed.
