Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:

Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as needed (e.g., multicultural psychology, experimental design, ethics, practicum, other clinically-related courses); developing a productive research program and mentoring undergraduate and Masters students; and serving on the Masters Psychology Programs Committee. Candidates must be committed to a student-centered approach and have a passion for teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.

Educational Requirements for the Position:

Candidates should have a Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited Psychology program and must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be considered, but the Doctoral degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology to work with the Masters programs beginning in the Fall of 2022.

Sam Houston State University is located in Huntsville, Texas, in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas approximately one hour north of the ethnically and culturally diverse Houston metropolitan area. SHSU is classified as a “Doctoral/Professional University” by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
