Job Summary:

Jobs in this career family develop, maintain, and support computer systems, software and networks.  Functions include enterprise operations, distributed computing, academic computing, research computing, computer hardware and software management, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development, database administration, server administration, website management, programming, desktop support, and help desk operations.

Intermediate Professional:

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Nature of Work:

The Department of Medicine, Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology has an opening for a permanent, full-time IT Professional for the IT Team at ClinImmune Labs. The IT Professional will work with the IT team and ClinImmune staff to provide Tier I-III desktop support and IT administrative assistance to all ClinImmune Labs’ employees.  This includes troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware issues, assisting with web development and software testing, and other desktop support issues that may arise.  The IT Professional will maintain a high level of customer service and customer confidence that their issues will be resolved in a timely manner. 

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Install and configure computer equipment, including desktop PCs, printers, label printers, scanners, and other computer equipment, and ensure all new PCs are configured according to the ClinImmune Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the Division’s computer hardware and software programs and be able to identify hardware and software needs.
  • Maintain and support Microsoft and SQL and Access database services, including updating forms, adding, deleting, and merging of records.
  • Ensure workstations meet University standards by installing and maintaining appropriate software.
  • Assist faculty, staff, and other users in all aspects of desktop computing including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and assist with user administration.
  • Set up hardware and install software on all lab-shared equipment and test and monitor all software and hardware issues; Assist with testing laboratory information systems; run virus scans/cleans as necessary and create and maintain Crystal Reports.
  • Create and maintain existing database queries, reports, and forms and maintain thorough and accurate logs of all problems.
  • Log and maintain inventory records of all computer hardware and software.
  • Assist with maintaining ClinImmune Lab’s website and update as needed.
  • Assist with virtual server maintenance.
  • Provide outstanding customer service at individual workstations and other locations and ensure compliance with all HIPAA rules and regulations.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $54,095 to $68,809.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 1 year of professional level experience in IT Desktop Support.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.

  • Perform physical activities including bending, stooping, standing and sitting for long periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional level experience in IT Desktop Support.
  • Experience working in Information Technology in a scientific or academic environment.
  • Experience (1+ years) using MS Access and/or MS SQL Server.
  • Experience (1+ years) working in the area of virtual server support.
  • Experience (1+ years) with Crystal Reports.
  • Experience (3+ years) using MS Active Directory.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
