SUMMARY:

The Pride Prep/Aspire Program Coordinator is a 12-month position that provides programmatic oversight for Fall and Spring programs related to the Pride Prep/ASPIRE initiative between Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMUC) and Commerce Independent School District (CISD). Position oversees Pride Prep admissions process, works with the director of the ASPIRE Summer Program, collaborates with the afterschool program, supervises college student volunteers as needed, serves as a liaison for research efforts involving TAMUC and CISD Liger Institute, a 21st century lab school. Incumbent will report to the Assistant Dean.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program Coordinator – ASPIRE is a 12-month position that provides programmatic oversight for Fall and Spring programs related to the ASPIRE initiative between Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMUC) and Commerce Independent School District (CISD).
  • Position oversees Pride Prep admissions process
  • Collaborates with the director of the ASPIRE Summer Program, collaborates with the afterschool program
  • Supervises college student volunteers
  • Serves as a liaison for research efforts involving TAMUC and CISD Liger Institute, a 21st century lab school. Incumbent will report to the Assistant Dean.
  • Compiles program statistics.
  • Advise students.
  • May assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events.
  • Plans and implements program events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Education.
  • Experience/Skills: Two (2) years of experience related to the above-described duties.
  • Experience working with student workers. Advising experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent technology skills. Strong work ethic, a high energy level, and a commitment to student success. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to promote a collegial atmosphere. Commitment to diversity. Belief in the value of all academic programs and units in the University
  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in Education (or related field)

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

May supervise student workers and volunteers.
