General Description / Primary Purpose:

The University of North Florida is inviting applicants for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty line to engage in teaching, research and service within the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Teaching needs exist in the area of orthopedics/musculoskeletal care, inpatient care, integument, and pelvic health. The position will have primary responsibility in the entry level DPT professional program. Responsibilities for this faculty position, beyond teaching in the applicant’s areas of expertise, include advising students, participating in department/college/university governance and maintaining a productive scholarly agenda. The Brooks College of Health has six Departments plus a School of Nursing, offering opportunities for collaboration. UNF also values collaboration with Departments outside of the Brooks College of Health. Opportunities for community-engaged service and research are supported by UNF’s Center for Community Based Learning. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and other stakeholders.

Faculty Position Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program
  • Earned academic doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD, DSc, or DHSc);
  • Experience teaching entry-level DPT students (academic or clinical) within area of clinical or research expertise;
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the state of Florida;
  • A scholarly agenda with evidence of dissemination that contributes to teaching and/or clinical practice;
  • Record of active involvement in the APTA and/or other professional organizations

Departmental Requirements:

  • Residency or Fellowship training in an area related to the candidate’s research or clinical expertise
  • Record of community engagement beyond that which clinical practice would provide; preference is for community engagement to be integrated into teaching and/or research
  • History of grant awards and/or submissions
  • Experience with interprofessional education (either in research or in classroom teaching)
  • Experience with CAPTE accreditation
  • History of leadership roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students
