The Department of English at the University of North Florida invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Creative Writing with a specialization in poetry to begin August 2022. Teaching load is 3/3, including general education composition courses taught by all department members, lower- and upper-division creative writing courses, and graduate-level creative writing courses taught in our M.A. Program in English. The University of North Florida has a fast-growing, vibrant creative writing program, including five in-house literary publications, two visiting writer series, and substantial scholarship funding for undergraduate creative writing students. The Department of English seeks a candidate to help foster the evolution of this program, including contributing to our diversity initiatives.

Faculty Position Required Qualifications:

M.F.A. in Creative Writing or Ph.D. with a creative dissertation, completed by June 2022.

Departmental Requirements:

Applicants should have a record of excellent teaching, student mentoring, and publishing, including a strong preference for a book or book under contract from a respected press. We prefer applicants with experience in any of the following: developing new and innovative courses, managing a literary journal, running a visiting writer series, and/or initiating and participating in community-oriented creative writing activities. Strong preference for candidates engaged with literatures from diverse cultural and identity backgrounds.
