Serving under the direction of the Director of the Regional Economic Development Center (REDC), this position will be the primary representative to develop, coordinate, and facilitate programs/projects that promote workforce development. As part of Regional Economic Development Center’s mission and vision to provide premier workforce solutions, the REDC is seeking a an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Instructional Designer. This position requires innovative, highly motivated, creative and non-traditional capacities, developing learning strategies and content formats that seek to engage clients and business prospects across social and digital channels. To be successful, the candidate will need to be agile and resourceful, thinking quickly on their feet and producing compelling content based on ever changing business and industry needs. The candidate will need to be ahead of the trends, deliver relevant content quickly, and with multiple modalities. The position will interact with a variety of both internal (faculty/staff) and external constituents including business, industry, subject matter experts, and corporate leaders to develop and implement collaborative strategies to enhance workforce development. Candidate must have a solid understanding of adult learning concepts and in-depth knowledge and experience in the Instructional Design process.
This position is responsible for:
  • Building, designing, and editing learning content, courses and learning structures in multiple modalities.
  • Work with the workforce team including the content developer, corporate liaison, career engagement, and subject matter experts to develop all of the components of the digital learning courses.
  • Develop course materials through original content creation and/or through 3rd party providers.
  • Edit, revise, or enhance content and graphics using instructional design software as needed.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Minimum Expectations & Requirements

  • Degree or some college-level work in education, educational technology, instructional design, distance learning, or other related discipline.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience in instructional design and courseware development; knowledge of learning theory, instructional theory, and applications of media to instructional scenarios
  • Experience with LMS platforms and functionality.
  • Demonstrated experience developing instructional or training materials
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web-based development tools (such as HTML, Dreamweaver, Flash, Camtasia (or similar), Articulate, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience using online and e-learning course development tools including gamification tools
  • Demonstrated experience integrating technology into the teaching and learning process
  • Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of workshops and individual subject matter expert consultation
  • Ability to travel
