Job Details

The Housing and Residential Education staff at the University of Denver (DU) provides housing and support services for 2900+ students living within University housing. The Resident Director (RD) is a full-time, live-in professional staff member who plays an integral role in creating a residential community that encourages student and community engagement. RDs are expected to incorporate the mission, vision, and core values of Housing and Residential Education into their work while at DU. This position performs a variety of important daily operations including supervision of student staff, Graduate Resident Director (GRD), advising of student leadership, adjudicating conduct cases, managing their communitys budget, supporting front desk operations, facilities, and occupancy, and serving on departmental and University-wide committees.

Position Summary

Student Affairs & Inclusive Excellence (SAIE) is the central student affairs division of the University of Denver. SAIE includes Housing and Residential Education, Student Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Health and Counseling, Inclusion & Equity Education, Disability Services Program, Cultural Center, Access & Transitions, Learning Effectives Program, Veterans Services, Student Outreach and Support, Student Rights & Responsibilities, Budget, Operations and Division Resources, New Student and Family Programs, Community and Driscoll Commons.

  • Under the supervision of an Associate Director, the RD is responsible for the direct supervision, training, and evaluation of a Graduate Resident Director and 15-30 student staff (Senior Resident Assistants, Resident Assistants, Desk Assistants). The RD is responsible for advising their communitys residential student leadership opportunities. In addition to the essential duties listed, the RD provides leadership in the development of a robust academic and social environment for residents, while creating and maintaining a high level of safety, security, and well-being for all students. This is a 12 month, live-on position.

    Required Qualifications

    • Masters Degree.
    • Demonstrated record of building teams and collaborative partnerships with colleagues and key stakeholder groups.
    • Experience designing programs for and with diverse student and employee populations, and a demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice.

    Work Schedule
    This position requires employees to work onsite 8:00am-4:30pm with some weekends, evenings and holidays. (Schedules vary by department and position.

    Salary Grade Number:
    The salary grade for the position is 7.

    Salary Range:
    The salary range for this position is $45,000-$50,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
