Position Summary

Reporting to the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) Dean, the Equity Labs Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, programming, and financial well-being of the institute. Primarily externally-facing, the Executive Director is solely responsible for client business development (i.e., working to identify and secure contracts with organizations or groups who could benefit from Equity Lab training) and then on-going relationship management with our target audiences of corporate, non-profit, and public sector leaders. The Executive Director coordinates among new and existing clients, program staff, and facilitators to identify clients diversity, equity, and inclusion needs and develop impactful solutions.

The Executive Director has expertise in driving organizational change related to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts with a focus on practice and application and utilizing a Power Privilege and Oppression (PPO) framework that centers social justice and racial equity. Utilizing adult learning best practices and instructional design principles, the Executive Director is the primary steward of all Equity Labs curricula and works with diverse teams of stakeholders to develop new offerings that meet external audience needs and ensures financial stability for Equity Labs. Responsible for the financial oversight and management of Equity Labs, the Executive Director also works closely with the Dean, GSSW Executive Director of Development, and advisory council to meet fundraising goals.

Essential Functions

Fiscal Management

  • Cultivate new customer, donor, and foundation relationships, securing partnership and collaboration agreements consistent with legal guidance provided by DU General Counsels office.
  • Lead grant research and writing efforts to secure philanthropic support.
  • Coordinate with Business Officer and Campus Partners to manage budgets and financial operations.
  • Direction and Coordination of Research

  • Oversee development and delivery of research agenda.
  • Recruit and coordinate a diverse team of research affiliates (faculty, staff, and students) to fulfill goals of EIPP research agenda, as well as individual affiliate research platforms.
  • Communications and Marketing Management

  • Oversee development and implementation of communications and marketing plans to support all efforts.
  • Manage DU inline website.
  • Manage EquityIs.org website.
  • Personnel Management

  • Oversee hiring and management of all personnel, including core staff, facilitators, student employees, interns, vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Coordinate with Business Officer and Campus Partners to create systems for recruiting, hiring, tracking, and managing vendors and contractors.
  • Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of executive-level business responsibilities.
  • Masters degree in social work, business, leadership, management, or similar.
  • Expertise in DEI, social justice, or racial equity programming.
  • Work Schedule
    Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

    Salary Grade Number:
    The salary grade for the position is 13.

    Salary Range:
    The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
