Clinical Research Associate, Division of Infectious Diseases Georgetown University Medical Center

Clinical Research Associate, Division of Infectious Diseases - Georgetown University Medical Center

Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) is an internationally recognized academic medical center whose missions of research, teaching and patient care are carried out with a strong emphasis on community outreach.

The Clinical Research Associate provides clinical and research services to clinical trial subjects participating in Infectious Diseases studies. They monitor and screen patients and administer investigational therapies for all clinical trials; provide professional care for patients following established standards and practices, and order and interpret diagnostic test; and complete all study-related documentation and ensure that standard clinical procedures and protocol regulations are met. Reporting directly to the Division Chief; working closely with Principal Investigators, research nurses and staff; and interacting Georgetown Clinical Trial Office, Pharmacy, CRC, and Pharma representatives, the Clinical Research Associate has duties that include but are not limited to:

Administration
  • Administer and monitor investigational therapies for HIV/AIDS & COVID-19 clinical trials
  • Coordinate all aspects of clinical trial, including patient recruitment, patient screening and follow-up
  • Enter clinical trial patients into and update information in OnCore System


Documentation
  • Maintain and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information
  • Post patient test and exam results.
  • Complete study documentation including source documents, care report forms and queries
  • Interface with pharmacy regarding clinical trial drugs


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in clinical research, and/or public health research (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practices to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Experience in research protocols and quality assurance
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to a myriad of issues related to HIV infection and COVID-19
  • Exhibit a high level of clinical skills and the ability to make decisions in response to unique
  • Ability to manage and coordinate complex COVID-19 studies in accordance with established protocols and guidelines
  • Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work under pressure and respond to multiple demands; and Sensitivity to the confidential nature of the duties


Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in a university medical setting
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
