Salary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 (Salary to be commensurate with education and experience)

Social Work Program

The Department of Social Work at Westfield State University offers CSWE accredited BSW and MSW Programs. The BSW Program provides generalist social work education using a hybrid model. With 2/3 of content delivered on ground and 1/3 delivered asynchronous online, all practice courses are 100% face-to-face. The MSW Program is a clinically focused single concentration, and students have the option to complete their MSW Program on-ground at our Westfield, MA campus or completely online, both options are delivered through a hybrid format. Courses are offered two nights per week, with 2/3 of content delivered on ground or via Zoom and 1/3 delivered asynchronous online. Within the clinical MSW Program, students can choose to focus 6 credits of electives and their advanced social policy course in one of the following four specialties (pending University approval): Child, Youth and Family; Health Social Work; Substance Use and Addictions; or Latinx Community Health (the required specialty courses are in English and Spanish or Spanish).

General Statement of Duties:
The temporary Assistant Professor position will teach across the MSW and BSW Programs. Teaching load will be 24 credits per year (12 credits per semester), additional responsibilities include: student advising; scholarship (including, where applicable, work toward a doctoral degree); and service to the University and wider community. Applicants will have the ability to teach in a hybrid and/or online format across undergraduate and graduate levels, specific curricular areas of need include: Research Methods, Diversity & Social Justice, and Generalist Practice. Candidates with the ability to teach in Spanish within the Latinx Community Health concentration are especially encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years post-masters direct practice experience, and a DSW or PhD in Social Work or a closely related social science field (ABD will be considered).

Salary:
For the majority of new employees, the minimum starting salary will apply. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures.
