Staff - Applications Analyst I

Location: Pecan

General Statement of Job:
The Applications Analyst I is responsible for maintaining and monitoring existing applications. Assists with evaluating, designing, and developing small-scale applications as projects are assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assists with design and development as well as ongoing maintenance of information systems solutions.
  2. Analyzes, designs, develops, and implements small-scale in-house software systems and customizes third party software as needed in Java, JavaScript, Dynamic HTML, and Oracle 12c.
  3. Performs routine application upgrades.
  4. Responsible for testing upgrades and new applications.
  5. Resolves technical issues by investigating and diagnosing system faults and errors.
  6. Schedules regular tests to enhance the current system and application.
  7. Collaborates to ensure a high level of communication with the College’s community.
  8. Responsible for providing a continuation of service delivery and continuous point of contact for service users and staff alike outside of normal office working hours.
  9. Keeps abreast of trends and developments in technology.
  10. Travels throughout the college district, as needed.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field required.
  2. At least two (2) years of experience in web development with an emphasis on dynamic content and database applications required.
  3. At least two (2) years of experience in SQL programming required.
  4. Experience in developing or maintaining web applications, preferred.

  2. In addition, subject to a federal background check.
  3. Must have or qualify for a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
  4. ITIL Service and/or MTA Developer certification, preferred.
