Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

The Institutional Research Associate will provide support in the areas of research for the Office of Institutional Research.

Functional Area 1: Research

Percent Effort: 40%

• Assist the Lead Data Analyst of Research with background research, including identifying available data sources, studies, web contents, and best practices for various research topics.
• Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
• Communicate and collaborate with identified Subject Matter Experts on campus.
• Communicate progress, key initiatives, and findings to upper management.

Functional Area 2: Data analysis

Percent Effort: 40%

• Perform data entry, data file compilation, data cleaning as well as managing research databases.
• Depending on the data analysis level, the research assistant may assist with quantitative data analysis, such as summary statistics, descriptive statistics, and inferential data analysis.
• Prepare initial and final reports in a variety of outputs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SPSS, STATA) for internal and external use.

Functional Area 3: Other

Percent Effort: 20%

• Fulfill assigned ongoing responsibilities to include research, reporting, analyzing, etc. under the supervision of Institutional Research staff.
• Adhere to Institutional Research practices, policies, and standards, along with all other University policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience in development and/or maintenance of office databases and data files using spreadsheets and other relational or statistical databases (e.g., Excel, Access, SPSS, STATA).
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented and team player. Strong work ethic with professional attitude and leadership experience.
• Ability to work remote with the Institutional Research team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master students in a field with an emphasis on data analysis, research, survey development and/or assessment (e.g., social sciences, or other closely related field). Preferred experience in quantitative analysis and research in higher education.

SPECIAL NOTICE:

• This is a temporary part-time 19 hours a week position funded through the end of the fiscal year (August 2022) with the opportunity to renew in fiscal year 2023 (September 2022).
• The Planning and Institutional Research (PIR) Department is a remote department that works off the TAMU-CC premises. Telework is a condition of employment within the PIR department.

SALARY:

• $15-$16/ Hourly
