The Communication Disorders and Deaf Education (CDDE) department at Fontbonne University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank (depending on qualifications) beginning in Fall 2022. This is a full-time, 9-month contract with options to teach during the summer semester. Department Mission

The mission of the department of communication disorders and deaf education at Fontbonne University is to prepare knowledgeable, competent and caring professionals in speech-language pathology and deaf education. Through courses and practicum experience, knowledge is developed, professional ethics and values are formed, and opportunities are provided for guided practice to foster reflective and caring therapists and teachers who will have a positive impact on individuals, families and society.

The departmental mission statement corresponds closely with the university mission statement, as both speech-language pathology and deaf education disciplines are rooted in “personal concern.” Critical thinking, ethical behavior and assuming responsibility for one's own behavior and the welfare of others are additional qualities included in both the departmental mission and the university mission. The goals of speech-language therapy and deaf education are always to maximize inclusion of individuals served by both professions, and this is accomplished via open communication and collaborative practice.
