Job Id: 749 # of Openings: 2 Regional Director of Development Job Overview· Reporting to the Director or Associate Director of Development, the Regional Director builds relationships with the 150 alumni, parents, and friends within a geographic region who are most strategic to charitably funding Wheaton's mission. This individual annually returns 10-30 times the College's investment in his or her salary and benefits and has substantive contact with every individual in his or her portfolio. · Full time Duties and Responsibilities· Intentionally Relate: Advance strategic relationships through stages of the development cycle, which include discovery, engagement, proposal, closure, and stewardship. Create a relationship development plan for each individual in the portfolio that is updated and reported regularly.· Thoughtfully Engage: Discern current and potential donors’ interest in Wheaton's mission so that it may be contextually expressed and givers may be meaningfully involved. This is accomplished through an agreed-upon number of individual meetings each year and is leveraged by campus and regional engagement events, gift planning seminars, and service opportunities on advisory councils.· Specifically Propose: Personally present and close an agreed-upon number of proposals for 5-, 6-, and 7-figure gifts to the College. Proposals include both outright and planned gifts.· Fill the Pipeline: Identify and become familiar with individuals in your territory who could become future major donors by engaging with them in the early stages of their giving relationship with the College.· Consistently Learn: Demonstrate competence in discussing College funding priorities, campus developments, tools and resources with constituents through a program of team-initiated and self-initiated learning.· Collaborate: Contribute to the collegial team culture of the Development Team and the Advancement and Alumni Relations division of the College and relate well with members of the campus community and the larger external Wheaton family.· Administrate: Manage individual travel budget. Qualifications· A call to advance God's kingdom through financial stewardship through Wheaton's mission.· Ability to ask for and secure leadership-level gifts.· A goal-orientation in task accomplishment and a collaborative spirit with colleagues.· Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.· Organizational and computer skills.· 40%-50% travel required, including evening and weekend work.· Bachelor’s degree is required, graduate degree is preferred. Physical RequirementsThe employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 10 pounds. The employee is regularly required to travel by both air and ground, and attend meetings in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.
