The primary mission of The Counseling and Personal Development Center (CPDC) is to provide programs and outreach services to promote student engagement and assist in theemotional, psychological, physical and intellectual development of students with diverse backgrounds.
Primary Purpose of the Position: Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::
The Certified Licensed Counselor serves as a key member of the larger team of committed mental health professionals and promotes emotional wellbeing and support services to assist in the emotional, psychological, and intellectual development of students with diverse backgrounds. The position is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive behavioral health/ substance use counseling services primarily to military/military-affiliated students. The position will provide individual, couples*, group counseling services, transformative presentations, and in-service trainings to augment the total educational process, thereby maintaining a climate conducive to the academic growth and development of all students.
Conduct comprehensive counseling evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, social/emotional and behavioral status.
Assessment and data collection by use of standardized evaluation techniques. Interpret and utilize assessment data for the purpose of writing counseling reportsand developing written intervention plans.
Provide individual, couples*, group counseling services to students. Develop, monitor, evaluate and adjust counseling goals as needed. Provide crisis intervention.
Create, organize and maintain up-to-date confidential counseling records. Outreach ServicesDevelop and provide transformative presentations that assist college students with developing coping strategies for varying psychosocial stressors.
Promote services and programs by developing flyers, brochures, promotional and resource materials.
Consult with instructors and administrators regarding specific students.
Program EvaluationAssist in the design and implementation of program evaluation. Participate in program evaluation. Professional DevelopmentAttend in-service meetings and conferences to assist in the development of professional attitudes and skills.
Maintain professional skills through reading of current literature and professional memberships.
Participate in professional organizations.
Division and University ResponsibilitiesParticipate on Student Affairs, University and/or community committees, coalitions, task forces and/ or search committees.
Develop programs in accordance with the Division of Student Affairs Competencies. Assist with university wide program Other Duties AssignedOther duties as needed or assigned by the Director of the Counseling and Personal Development Center.
1. Master’s degree or above Preferred Qualifications::
2. State Certification in Counseling
2-3 years of post-graduate clinical experience providing comprehensive behavioral health/ substance use counseling services.Knowledge and competency in culturally informed therapeutic approaches. Open Until Filled::
