Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The Center for Youth, Family, and Community Partnerships (CYFCP) at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for the position of Community Partnerships Specialist. The mission of the Center for Youth, Family, and Community Partnerships is to foster community partnerships that bridge research, practice, and policy to advance the health and wellbeing of individuals and families across the lifespan. The Community Partnerships Specialist will help to coordinate and develop the Center’s community partnership activities with key stakeholders across the university, in the local community, statewide, and beyond.

Position Summary:

The Community Partnerships Specialist (Journey) will spearhead the CYFCP’s community outreach efforts, especially related to the Center’s Bringing Out the Best program and the Healthy Relationships Initiative, as well as other Center-wide outreach. This may include coordinating on community events, building community partnerships, and providing social media support across a variety of grants.

Minimum Qualifications:

BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN A DISCIPLINE RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree plus at least three years of experience specifically doing work involving building and sustaining community partnerships in educational, nonprofit, and/or governmental settings. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience with skills in the following areas: written and verbal communication skills, social media outreach, and event planning and coordination. Applicants should outline relevant experiences in their cover letter.
Preference will be given to candidates who have a Master’s Degree. Preference also will be given to candidates who have experience working in early childhood and/or K-12 school settings as a counselor, social worker, or related role. Experience in writing and/or managing grant-funded projects.

Key Responsibility:

Community outreach and partnership development

Essential Tasks:

Provide communication and community partnership support to the CYFCP as a whole and specific programs within the CYFCP, such as Bringing Out the Best, the Healthy Relationships Initiative, and our Behavioral Health initiatives. This will include developing e-newsletters, managing social media content and platforms, doing population-specific outreach within each program area, and some support for the development of collaborative grant proposals within the CYFCP and with relevant community partners.

Plan and oversee logistical details for both in-person (when in-person activities can resume) and online trainings, workshops, and other community outreach events. Coordinate with community partners regarding events they plan that involve CYFCP staff and programs.

Supervise current undergraduate and graduate student interns in their work to support the community partnerships and outreach of the CYFCP and its programs.
