Erikson Institute, one of the nation’s premier graduate schools in child development, invites applications for a tenure track, open rank (assistant, associate, or full professor) faculty position in Child Development with quantitative orientation. Erikson has master’s- and Ph.D.-level programs in Child Development.
We are seeking applicants with a Ph.D. in child development, human development and family studies, developmental psychology, or a related field. Specialty area is open, but we are especially interested in building on our existing strengths in infancy and infant mental health, family support and parenting, toxic stress and trauma, developmental and social-affective neuroscience, resilience and adaptation, or prevention and intervention. Candidates who are nearing completion of doctoral work will be considered. Applicants should have a primarily quantitative methodological orientation and be prepared to advise doctoral students utilizing multivariate statistics and mixed methods in their dissertations. All faculty applicants at Erikson are required to demonstrate a track record of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their scholarship and teaching, and describe their plans for using their work to advance Erikson’s mission and values in DEI.
Preferred candidates will have strong applied and/or community-engaged scholarship, teaching, and knowledge of the service systems, and cultural and political realities with which the children and families they study intersect. Candidates should also have a record of external funding commensurate with the rank.
Responsibilities of tenure track faculty include teaching graduate courses (on campus and online; generally 2 and 2); advising master’s and doctoral students; developing an active program of funded research with publications; taking a leadership role in program administration and development; engagement with the public at local, state, and regional levels; and contributing expertise to the Institute’s mission and initiatives. Erikson is home to several special projects and initiatives providing ample opportunity for multi-disciplinary collaboration and support including the Center for Children and Families, Fussy Baby Network, Center for Policy and Leadership, and the Early Teaching and Learning Academy. We expect to conduct interviews in mid-to-late fall semester 2021 and begin inviting finalists for job talks in early spring semester 2022.
