Pay Grade/Pay Range: 54 Hourly (non-exempt) - Minimum - $ 11.89 Midpoint - $ 15.82

Department/Organization: 219101 - University Libraries

Normal Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m

Job Summary: The Library Assistant II (Job Family) uses knowledge of established library procedures to provide a wide variety of technical duties and/or customer assistance in support of library services in an operational unit or section of a university library. May oversee the work of students and volunteers. The Library Assistant II (Job Family) exercises considerable judgment in the interpretation and application of library practices, rules and regulations.

Additional Department Summary: This position will act as the night facility coordinator for Gorgas Library. This includes securing the building at closing, confirming that all staff, including student assistants, are on duty, assisting with patrons at either the 1st floor or 2nd floor service desks and being the point person for any emergency situations with UAPD or UA facilities personnel.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of library work experience at the Library Assistant I level. If an Internal Promotion - candidate must have successfully completed the library training modules. If an External Hire - candidate must successfully complete the library training modules within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory experience is preferred, preferably in a library environment.
