YesDuties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct original research using mice as an animal model to study the role of genome instability in carcinogenesis. The successful candidate will be expected to publish research results in peer reviewed journals and present at national meetings. Qualifications:
Ph.D. in cell or molecular biology, or other discipline related to the molecular biosciences; demonstrated expertise in using mouse models to study cancer initiation and progression; prior experience with skin cancer/melanoma and/or UV damage is preferred; strong experience with animal handling, breeding, genotyping, clinical observation including tumor monitoring, dissecting and isolating organs/tissues; a publication record consistent with background; strong communication skills, both orally and written; research experience with tissue culture, transfection, RNAi, CRISPR/Cas9, molecular cloning, retrovirus and/lentivirus production, PCR, real-time PCR, RT-PCR, co-immunoprecipitation, western blotting, fluorescence microscopy. Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Associate or Staff Scientist position in Prof. Weihang Chai’s lab at the Department of Cancer Biology, Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. The Chai lab studies the molecular mechanism governing genome stability and telomere maintenance using molecular biology, cellular imaging, genomics, and animal model approaches.
