Deadline: Feb 07, 2022 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The MSW Program at the University of Pennsylvania is recruiting part-time lecturers to teach core foundational and advanced social work courses, including two-semester foundation and advanced clinical courses, American Racism and Social Work Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, History and Philosophy of Social Work and Social Welfare, and Mental Health Diagnostics. We seek applicants with demonstrated commitment to excellence in social work education and practice and to the pursuit of social justice, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, an MSW degree and prior teaching experience are required. For part-time lecturers who teach practice classes, two years of post-Master's practice experience are also required. Practice in agency-based contexts with diverse populations and doctoral education in social work or related fields are valued.

In order to apply, please submit a detailed curriculum vitae, recent prior teaching evaluations (within the last 3 years), and a cover letter describing courses you would like to teach, your educational and professional background, and how your teaching contributes to excellence in social work education and practice and to the pursuit of social justice, equity, and inclusion.

Hiring for the academic year typically occurs in the summer. These positions are part-time and non-tenure-track and involve in-person teaching; pay is competitive. The number of available positions varies each term. Applications will be reviewed as soon as they are received and will close once current positions are filled. Due to the volume of applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. No letters of recommendation are required at this time. Applications will be retained for future consideration if an immediate position is not identified.

Vision

As engines of knowledge and new ideas, universities have the unique potential to define the future rather than be defined by it; to pioneer change rather than merely manage it. To do so requires a plan both visionary and pragmatic. The Penn Compact 2022 motivates community members to innovate, be radically inclusive, and positively impact their local, national, and global communities.

Penn’s fundamental priorities — increasing access, integrating knowledge and engaging locally, nationally and globally — are supported by the three core values that make us uniquely Penn: inclusion, innovation, and impact.
