Basic Function
The Bakersfield College Student Health and Wellness Center has an immediate opening for a 38 hour/week (maximum), temporary Medical Assistant. The Student Health and Wellness Center serves the student population of Bakersfield College by providing preventative care, sexual wellness, and certain urgent care services. We are a solution-oriented Center committed to providing the highest quality services to our student clients. Our ideal candidate is very organized, able to independently prioritize tasks, and has good time management skills.

Representative Duties

Obtains vital signs and other biometric data and reports significant findings and pertinent patient observations to clinic provider.

Perform technical support services (patient care within the MA's scope of practice) under the direct supervision of a MD, NP, or PA.

Patient documentation in the electronic health record.

Maintain patient care environments in a sanitary and organized manner.

Perform such administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

Typical work-weeks are M-Th 0800-1700 and Fri 0800-1500 with one-hour lunches.

Minimum Qualifications

Documented completion of accredited Medical Assistant program

2-3 years of work experience in the health care industry or related field preferred; or

Certification as a Qualified Medical Assistant and 1-2 years of work experience in the health care industry or related field strongly preferred
