Job Description Summary

Under the general direction of the Chief Office of Student Success | WorldWide Director, the Associate Director of Student Advising maintains overall responsibility for all activities related to the servicing, satisfaction and retention of Center for Online Learning students within their assigned team of Student Advisors. The Associate Director plans and manages current student outreach through effective communications and proactive advising from the point of first course registration through graduation.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Lead the training and management of a team of 8 or more Student Advisors. Bring best practices in student services and retention activities from both traditional and online environments.

  • Ensure an outstanding course selection and registration experience for online students.

  • Manage in a contact center environment specific to metrics and requirements

  • Operate in coordination with Admissions for a smooth transition between Enrollment Counselors and Student Advisors.

  • Develop Student Advisors into confident mentors, achievers and potential leaders.

  • Ensure through consistent auditing and coaching methods an outstanding experience for existing undergraduate online students.

  • Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure that retention, student satisfaction, and revenue objectives are achieved.

  • Actively support the commitment that consistent and compliant documentation must occur within all student database resources and monitor compliance of staff with all prevailing internal and external policies and regulations.

  • Actively utilize all student database resources and reports to monitor, coach and provide feedback on Student Advisor performance.

  • Follow and enforce prospective student communication plan from the point of first term registration through graduation.

  • Ensure Student Advisors are servicing students proactively and effectively via consistent monitoring of activities and direct coaching and feedback.

  • Create and sustain a culture of excellence, community and integrity.

  • Assist in providing clear processes to ensure employees have a solid understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

  • Assist in developing strategies for involving alumni and current students in the mentoring process.

  • Ensure compliance with all Saint Leo policies and all federal, state and accreditation requirements.

  • Participate in community engagement for University initiatives.

  • Create and improve processes that best serves our students.

  • Build a cohesive team unit within the department.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Masters’ degree required.

  • Higher Education Administration Experience (Advising specific)

  • Experience managing a team of 8 or more employees.

  • Contact Center experience with metrics and management.

  • Superior oral and written communications skills.

  • Ability to engage with a variety of constituents (prospective and current students, alumni, faculty, etc.) from many different cultural backgrounds.

  • Superior organizational skills; ability to execute multiple objectives concurrently.

  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends. Minimal travel required.

  • Proficiency with MS office and managing databases required.

  • Technical skills and experience with LMA and CRM

  • Reporting and Analytics

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five or more years of progressive experience in a student services role, with at least 2 years in a higher education management position.

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university required.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
