The mission of University Housing & Residential Life is to provide an inclusive residential learning environment with programs, services, and experiences that support the mission of Temple University. UHRL’s vision is to build transformative communities where students live learning, learn living, and inspire each other.  This position shares in the strategic development and management of a comprehensive housing program for approximately 6,000 on-campus students that supports the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and Temple University.  

Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance for University Housing and Residential Life (UHRL), the Senior Finance/Accounting Specialist provides direct support to the auxiliary business unit regarding financial affairs of the department. Creates, maintains, and tracks requisitions for invoices, purchase orders, or encumbrances; processes invoices via Concur, receives and deposits cash receipts, processes JETs and provides other financial support as directed.  Supports UHRL in the resolution of purchasing and payment issues and the department through the financial management of UHRL Fund, Organization, Account, Program (FOAPs) codes including regular monitoring and reconciliation of charges to both operating and renovation FOAPs. Regularly analyzes and develops reports on spending, variances, and projects. Generates forecasts or projections of annual spending based upon actuals, estimations, or trends of planned spending. Analyzes data and processes to develop best practices and procedures. Organizes and analyzes highly complex data and information regarding procurement processes and charges for both operations and renovations Supports all administrative, budgetary, and financial functions for the department. Maintains confidentiality due to exposure to sensitive and/or confidential data. Ensures adherence to departmental and University cash handling policies. Provides strategic direction on budget development, financial reporting, and transactional processes.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience managing or assisting with accounting and finance related tasks.  Demonstrated financial management experience, along with a high level of responsibility, integrity and attention to detail. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Ability to build and maintain effective relationships, participate in continual self-education conferences or seminars via professional organizations, such as Nacubo.
*A high level of organization, efficiency, analytical/technological skills and discipline. 
*Ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Excel, MS Word & Outlook).
*Adaptability to changing work priorities, meeting deadlines and schedules.
*Ability to manage multiple collaborative tasks and projects while working cooperatively as part of a team in an environment that often has constant interruptions and distractions.
*Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for every student, and to be accountable to all Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) Values.  The DoSA values are Excellence, Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity, and Respect.
*Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including, but not limited to, safety, civility, information security, and adherence to discrimination policies and procedures including Temple University’s Affirmative Action Plan.
*Strong interpersonal, oral, electronic, and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse population of students, stakeholders, and UHRL team members. 

Preferred:
*Experience with Concur and other university finance systems, including but not limited to Banner Finance, Cognos, Tumarketplace, and or Concur
*Experience with accounts payable, purchase order processing, and budget development.
