Description:

The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure track, full-time, position at the rank of Lecturer (Working title of Assistant Instructional Professor). The position’s anticipated start date is December 2021 or May 2022.

Duties and responsibilities include teaching, revising, and developing undergraduate engineering courses and laboratories/facilities in following areas: Design and Manufacturing Laboratory, Capstone Design and Capstone Design Realization Laboratory, Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Design Documentation, and related aspects of mechanical and/or aerospace engineering. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in department, university, and professional service activities and educational research activities.

The MAE department is specifically looking for candidates with a passion for teaching and a desire to develop and/or continue a career in the pedagogy of engineering education. Additionally, the ability and desire of candidates to work closely with other faculty in a team approach to instruction delivery, curriculum, and facility development is important.

The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida (https://mae.ufl.edu/) has over 60 faculty members working in all aspects of mechanical and aerospace engineering and is expected to grow in upcoming years. The total student population is approximately 2500 with nearly 200 in the Ph.D. program. The latest US News & World Report has MAE ranked as 16th and 15th for the aerospace and mechanical engineering programs, respectively, among graduate engineering public universities in the US. The University of Florida is ranked as the #5 Best Public US University according to US News & World Report.


Qualifications:

The successful candidate is expected to have a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Technology with prior industrial and/or instructional experience with manufacturing equipment and related processes in a machine shop, laboratory, or hands-on educational setting.
