Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

The University of Alabama seeks applications for Postdoctoral positions. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.
Responsibilities will include leading the full genome sequencing, assembly, and analyses for the clownfish-hosting sea anemones. Other responsibilities will include scientific writing (publications, manuscripts, grants), collaboration, and student mentorship (undergraduate and graduate).
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. required in Biology, Evolution, Genomics, Computational Biology, or equivalent.
Applicants must have a publication track record that includes first-author publications employing genomic and bioinformatic approaches.
Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Preferred Qualifications: Backgrounds and research interests in symbiosis, marine science, invertebrate zoology, and/or non-model organisms. Demonstrable ability to lead projects with a diverse group of national and international collaborators.
