Description:

The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, one of 12 Schools in a highly ranked institution, is dedicated to the integration of interdisciplinary research, education, and practice.

The Biobehavioral Health Sciences (BHS) Department in the School of Nursing seeks candidates for an associated faculty position on the non-tenure practice track in Nursing Practice Leadership.  We invite individuals prepared at the doctoral level (PhD or DNP) to apply to the Associated Faculty (practice track at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor rank).

Penn Nursing has been a leader in the science and practice of nursing since 1886 and applicants must have expertise in leading advances in nursing practice.  This faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in both undergraduate and graduate programs including our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Our undergraduate program prepares leaders as they enter professional nursing practice and our master’s programs extend those skills in preparing advanced practice nurses. Our DNP program is aimed at developing leaders in practice innovation and prepares professionals by providing education in the translation of research, implementation of evidence-based practice, project management, and leadership development.

Interested candidates must have experience in academic program leadership (including oversight of undergraduate clinical nursing courses and graduate level programs), curriculum development/evaluation, academic teaching using multiple modalities (didactic, online) and working with an interprofessional audience of physicians and nurses.  Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate numerous sources of complex information is required. Excellent writing skills are essential. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills needed. Eligibility to be registered as a nurse in the state of PA is required.

    Vision

As engines of knowledge and new ideas, universities have the unique potential to define the future rather than be defined by it; to pioneer change rather than merely manage it. To do so requires a plan both visionary and pragmatic. The Penn Compact 2022 motivates community members to innovate, be radically inclusive, and positively impact their local, national, and global communities.

Penn’s fundamental priorities — increasing access, integrating knowledge and engaging locally, nationally and globally — are supported by the three core values that make us uniquely Penn: inclusion, innovation, and impact.
