The Jewish Theological Seminary seeks a scholar and teacher of Jewish Ethics to join our faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor. Area of specialization within ethics is open, but the successful candidate will display familiarity with classical ethical texts, Jewish law and Jewish biblical exegesis with ethical content, as well as texts and trends in Western philosophical ethics/moral philosophy.  The successful candidate will have an active research agenda as well as a passion for teaching the diverse student body at JTS, which includes undergraduate, graduate, education, rabbinical, and cantorial students. Critical as well to a successful candidacy is commitment to the mission of JTS. In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate will serve as the Academic Director of the Hendel Center for Ethics and Justice [https://www.jtsa.edu/the-hendel-center-for-ethics-and-justice ]. Scholars from underrepresented populations are especially encouraged to apply as the Seminary strives to increase the diversity of its faculty to achieve its ethical and religious goals.

This tenure-track appointment, with an initial term of three years, begins July 1, 2022.  Candidates must have PhD in hand by July 1, 2022 in order to take up the appointment.
