The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the American University of Beirut currently seeks for its Department of Health Promotion and Community Health (HPCH) a candidate with a PhD/DrPH degree in Health Promotion, Health Communication, Health Behavior and Education, or a related discipline in Public Health, behavioral or social sciences, at the ranks of assistant, associate or full professor, depending on qualifications. Visiting positions at all levels may be considered.

The HPCH Department hosts a concentration in Health Promotion and Community Health in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program which is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The Department launched its first CEPH-accredited Bachelor of Arts in Health Communication (BHCOM) in AY 2019-20. The HPCH Department contributes to teaching in undergraduate and graduate public health programs at FHS, and to teaching public health in the Faculty of Medicine.

The Department is specifically interested in candidates who demonstrate methodological and interdisciplinary skills, have a track record of teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and whose research applies behavioral or social science perspectives in health promotion, who have the potential to address complex public health problems that affect populations in Lebanon, the Middle-East and North Africa region, or similar settings.

Candidates are expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, such as social marketing, e-health, health communication theory, program evaluation and policy/advocacy. The Department welcomes applicants who have expertise in health communication, marketing and related disciplines, have the potential to address complex public health contexts, and be involved in research, teaching, and practice which align with the missions of FHS and HPCH (www.aub.edu.lb/fhs). Proficiency in Arabic is an added value.
