Location The Georgia Institute of Technology, located in the heart of Atlanta, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the US, consistently ranks among the top public universities in the United States. The Center for Relativistic Astrophysics offers a broad range of experimental research activities in CTA, VERITAS, IceCube, LIGO, POEMMA, and Trinity. Activities in theory range from high-energy astrophysics, galaxy formation, cosmology to numerical relativity.

Job Summary The College of Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in the School of Physics and the Center for Relativistic Astrophysics to work on the Trinity Extreme Neutrino Observatory under the direction of Professor Nepomuk Otte.

The Trinity project is a planned instrument to detect ultrahigh-energy neutrinos above 1 PeV from astrophysical sources. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the construction and remote operation of the first telescope on Frisco Peak in Utah and the further development of Trinity through simulation and data analysis. The postdoctoral fellowship offers a competitive salary with benefits. The position will be available beginning Fall 2021 for one year, renewable for up to three years.

Besides Trinity, Professor Nepomuk Otte’s research group is active in the ultrahigh-energy neutrino experiments POEMMA and EUSO SPB2, the gamma-ray experiments VERITAS and CTA, and the development of GaN-based single-photon detectors.
