Description
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) seeks a highly motivated individual for the position of Employer Relations Lead for the Colorado Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program (C-CAP). Please note that this is a grant funded, term-limited position and anticipated to be funded until February 28, 2024.

The C-CAP goal is to address the current cybersecurity skills demand by creating five new registered apprenticeship programs. The program will target mid-level and advanced- level cybersecurity roles: Cybersecurity Analyst, Cybersecurity Consultant, Penetration and Vulnerability Tester, IT Auditor, Cybersecurity Manager/Administrator. The C-CAP is projected to serve 5720 individuals in high wage, high demand cybersecurity occupations and to fill the job openings anticipated over the life of the grant.

Position priorities include engaging employers to identify placement opportunities, managing the employer-side apprenticeship program, and matching employer opportunities available with enrolled students. The Employer Relations Lead will be working with external organizations and agencies to advance common priorities in support of placement of apprentices with employers throughout the 10 states (CO, AZ, TX, FL, CA, NC, OR, NV, NE, and VA) where the C-CAP program will be launched. As a valuable member of UCCS C-CAP team, the Employer Relations Lead will serve as an intermediary between UCCS apprenticeship candidates (students) and the business community to help identify placement opportunities with the employers.

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is one of four campuses in the University of Colorado system and is home to over 9,500 undergraduate and 1,900 graduate students. The AACSB International accredited College of Business enrolls approximately 2,000 students annually. The College of Business offers comprehensive undergraduate degrees, select master’s degrees, and professional programs that emphasize principle-based ethical decision making.

Job Duties:

Student Relations

  • Places apprentices (students) with employers.
  • Coordinates activities with other Career Offices (UCCS & College of Business) staff members who provide related career services for students.
  • Conducts vocational, occupational, and/or employment counseling with participants, such as:
  • Develops and implements work readiness skill development/intervention strategies to help C-CAP participants develop skills to achieve self-sufficiency goals.
  • Conducts workshops including Work Readiness and various employment services workshops (e.g. resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, etc.).
  • Provides training to assess skills and learning needs, and help participants understand responsibilities related to employment.
  • Employer Relations

  • Recruits employers and identifies sites for work experience in alignment with grant goals.
  • Establishes partnerships with employers.
  • Implements employer recruitment program in coordination with PI/Co-PI.
  • Enhances and maintains business partner relationships and serves as the point of contact for employer partners.
  • Implements an operating plan for the employer recruitment/placement program.
  • Matches employer opportunities available with enrolled C-CAP participants.
  • Provides employer mentor support.
  • Reporting

    Ensures goals are met including participant and employer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team member performance.
  • Provides timely reports to support C-CAP and various reporting and compliance requirements
  • Supervision

  • May provide supervision to student employee based on needs of department

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • The work location is in Colorado Springs, CO, and/or remote in any of the states where the program will be launched.
  • In-state and out-of-state travel may be likely and could take up to 25% of the position’s time.
  • Job Competencies:

  • High level of ethics and integrity.
  • Knowledge of higher education and workforce development integration, IT/cybersecurity career pathways, or work-based learning/training concepts, with a focus on apprenticeships.
  • Knowledge of U.S Department of Labor funding such as Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Incumbent Worker Training Grant (IWT).
  • Knowledge of workforce development program funding policy and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.  (Bilingual/Spanish is a plus).
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Responsible, independent worker with leadership skills.
  • Relationship development skills.
  • Organizational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with internal and external program participants.
  • Ability to develop workforce development programming.
  • This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    What We Offer:

    Salary Range: Generally starting at $50,379 - $67,172 per year. Please note that this is a grant funded, term-limited position and anticipated to be funded until February 28, 2024. 

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Tentative Search Timeline:

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.
  • At least four (4) years of full-time equivalent professional experience in the field of IT/cybersecurity recruiting/staffing, workforce development, or adult training programs.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IT and/or cybersecurity recruitment and career placement.
  • Experience with IT and/or cybersecurity certifications and career pathways.
  • Experience with Candidate Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Experience with Talent Acquisition & Human Resource Practices.
  • Experience coordinating and communicating with multiple organizations to increase program enrollment and completion.
  • Experience with apprenticeships and/or work-based learning models.
  • Experience establishing best hiring and mentorship practices.
  • Experience working with remote and cross functioning teams.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. 
  • Employee is occasionally required to move.
  • Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time.
  • Ability to type on a keyboard and use a mouse continuously for long periods of time.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
