PLACEMENT: Support Staff Grade 5
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $16.27 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

Part Time computer support position requiring evening and weekend hours. Provides technical support to students, faculty and staff. Assists with the maintenance of computer systems throughout the institution.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist faculty, staff and students with the proper operation of computer equipment and software. Answer Support Desk phones and enter issues into call tracking system; maintain and update computer-based reporting and tracking system for computer problems. Respond to service requests from IT Help Desk. Solve problems with computer software, hardware, printing, and projection systems. Install, operate, and maintain equipment including computers, printers, storage devices, scanners, data projectors, digital cameras, and related. Monitor computer open labs to ensure equipment is used for intended educational purposes. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair common issues with computers and printers. Windows, Internet, MS Office experience. A+ Certification within 6 months of employment Two (2) years of computer support experience High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent Customer Service skills; strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population. Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking. Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Weekend and evening hours as required. Must have reliable transportation for possible travel to other regional sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or closely related field. Macintosh experience. Familiarity with Canvas or other course management software.

WORK SCHEDULE

28 hours per week Evening and weekend hours as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Normal office physical demands. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.

Internal candidates must adhere to the terms of employment regarding length of time in current position as outlined in their union contract.
