Description:

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Strategic Outreach and Retention, the Associate Director of Strategic Outreach and Retention is responsible for leading student retention and persistence initiatives within the Center for University Advising (CUA).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in developing communication plans and templates for outreach
• Assist in managing EAB/Navigate communication campaigns, assessment, and retention outreach, including grade review and scholarship outreach efforts
• Develop summary reports, with Institutional Research, as needed, to review reporting data and summarize recommendations for additional efforts and program implementation
• Assist in identifying student success markers and trends through EAB/Navigate campaigns
• Coordinate registration efforts for continuing students in collaboration with campus partners like the Division of Student Affairs, Student Success Collaborative, and First Year Connections (FYC) program
• Coordinate efforts to integrate EAB/Navigate academic planning tool
• Create and maintain an operational calendar to coordinate academic outreach throughout the academic cycle
• Collaborate with partner offices to coordinate the management of important academic workflows like Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) plans, academic and scholarship action plans, and repeat course notifications
• Work with the dean to coordinate departmental end of year profile
• Stay abreast of curricular changes with the Office of the Provost and school deans
• Represent CUA as a liaison to specifically identified academic departments
• Collaborate with the First Year Connections Program to manage enrollment of first year students and provide feedback on enrollment data
• Maintain a dedicated advising cohort of approximately 150 students
• Advise incoming students during the orientation programs as well as supporting Enrollment Services events
• Meet with prospective students seeking guidance and information about the University and academic programs (Transfer Center)
• Serve as drop-in advisor for quick questions and to assist with triage at the front desk
• Other duties as assigned

Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, occasional evening and weekends

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or another related field is required
• Three or more years of experience working with college students in at least one of the following areas is required: academic advising, college teaching, career counseling, supportive academic programs, residential life, or general student affairs administration

• Demonstrated understanding of the developmental needs of college students
• Will possess excellent human relations skills, ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities, perform highly detailed work, and work well under pressure
• Have excellent written, interpersonal, teaching/presenting, and problem-solving skills
• Have a collaborative disposition and possess the ability to think both critically and strategically
• Have strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Excellent computer skills and comfort with technology
• Have a passion for and experience with working students, families, and colleagues of diverse backgrounds
• Actively support and attend DSA and University-wide events
