The Position

The faculty of the College of Education at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Teacher Education Division of the College of Education.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of successful teaching and research in the areas of Math Education with a critical pedagogy, intersectional, and justice perspective. The candidate will have experience as a successful TK-12 school teacher in urban school environments with linguistically, culturally, racially, and economically diverse students, as well as, an understanding of the California Common Core State Standards and their integration into content areas.

Responsibilities

• Teaching a variety of post-baccalaureate /graduate courses in the Teacher Education Division in the College of Education (face-to-face and online) in math education, including providing fieldwork supervision for math candidates
• Pursuing a research agenda related to teaching and learning with a focus on Math Education
• Supporting curriculum development and programmatic efforts of the Masters of Education program and any or all of our current MA in Education options: a) Curriculum & Instruction; b) Dual Language
• Assuming college and university committee responsibilities
• Participating in and expanding partnerships with area schools to foster excellent field experiences and job prospects for our candidates
• Demonstrating and employing digital tools (e.g., Blackboard) that enhance learning in all courses.

• Multiple subject or single subject teaching credential
• Evidence of working with pre-service or in-service teachers and supporting their efforts to teach for equity and social justice
• Experience teaching STEM education courses, including computer science at the university level
• Experience working in partnership with local schools, education agencies, school districts, or higher education institutions
• Active participation in national or international professional organizations in education

Employment Requirement – Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
