The Department of Physics of the University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-accruing position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2022. The area of interest is the experimental particle physics research conducted at the Large Hadron Collider with the CMS experiment. Applicants will have a Ph.D. in Physics. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package.

The UF group is one of the largest US university groups in the CMS experiment and comprises several faculty members, students, postdocs, scientists, and engineers. The group currently leads projects and teams in the areas of physics analyses, detector and trigger upgrades, operations, computing, and software. Projects include measurements and searches with the Higgs boson, a variety of new physics searches, muon detector and trigger upgrades and operations, and a Tier-2 computing center. The new faculty member is expected to attract external research funding, enhance our group’s efforts, and develop innovative projects. We seek scholars with significant evidence of a developed research trajectory, the ability to collaborate in small and large groups, and the ability to supervise and mentor students and postdoctoral researchers.
