- Design and implement innovative Center programs that maintain and expand the practice of personalized medicine across campus, affiliated health systems, and in the state of Colorado, and that serve as a national model.
- Develop and manage relationships and agreements with key campus, UCHealth system, and industry partners.
- As a faculty member, maintain an extramurally funded research program of national and international importance.
- Maintain understanding of the field’s current literature; formulate short and long-term goals; design and implement strategies to achieve these goals; maintain compliance with all institutional, state, and federal research guidelines, rules, and regulations.
- Interact effectively with members of the campus community and develop collaborations that assure the success of the Center and other campus units.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (all ranks) Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- A PhD and/or MD in a discipline related to personalized medicine.
- A track record of translating research findings into demonstrable improvements in clinical outcomes.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary professional environments at the highest levels.
- Experience leading large-scale initiatives and multidisciplinary operational teams to translate research findings into improvements in clinical care.
- Experience overseeing research and clinical workflows utilizing human genetic and/or genomic data.
- Success in sustaining a nationally prominent research program.
- Experience running a Center, Institute, or other academic unit with a role supporting the operations of a broader school, health system, hospital, or campus.
- A track record of translating research findings into demonstrable improvements in clinical outcomes.
- Experience with EHR infrastructure and associated informatics technologies for research, secure data storage, and integration into care.
- Experience with technology transfer and innovation programs.
- Work through expert team leads, who will be clinicians, scientists, and other specialists, to implement multiple complementary personalized medicine programs simultaneously.
- Ensure an inclusive environment and prioritize initiatives to enhance reach and engagement, particularly in underserved and underrepresented populations.
- Understand the sensitivity of human genetic and genomic data, allowing for advancements in research and care without undermining participant confidence.
- Know holistic phenotyping strategies that may include a diversity of data modalities (e.g. imaging, multi-omics, mhealth, etc.).
- Know state-of-the-art genomic profiling methods to prioritize strategies to meet multiple research and clinical needs.
- Adapt as capabilities and needs change while remaining focused on the overall goal of bringing improvements in care to reality.
- Be capable of defining and implementing a plan to translate genetic findings to new drugs, therapies, or devices that meet the needs of patients, clinicians, and the health system.
