Art Gallery Manager (part-time)

Description of Position

HIRING RATE: $17.55 - $22.74

Manage Art Gallery exhibition spaces on Verde campus, under the supervision of Art faculty. Performs non-exempt work requiring understanding of a specific function or body of knowledge.

Exhibition Coordination
  1. Assist with preparation of exhibit agreements and communicate with exhibiting artists.
  2. Web design creation, maintenance and upload of art online
  3. Obtaining food/drink for opening receptions and arranging for set up and clean up
    Oversee Gallery interpreters
  4. Complete invoices and sales transactions.
  5. Coordinate delivery of art and digital images with artists for in-gallery / online exhibits.
  6. De-install exhibits.
  7. Coordinate, supervise, and securely package the return of artwork to the artists. Follow safe handling and packaging procedures.
  8. Expand/coordinate/supervise Student Show.
  9. Contact various artists who may be interested in being Jurors for Student Shows.
  10. Work with Art faculty in choosing jurors and art submittable open art call choices
  11. Order Gallery supplies: ink, paint, notebooks, calendars, etc. and stay within Gallery budget
Community Coordination
  1. Utilize online Yavapai College forms like Marketing Request and Bulk Mail Request Forms.
  2. Keep signs, gallery hours and gallery voicemail updated with each changing exhibition.
  3. Work with Community as a name and face of the Yavapai College Art Gallery Verde.
  4. Ensure coverage for all published gallery hours
  5. Attend Visual Art department meetings

Media Coordination
  1. Write promotional copy, press releases, using message hub for internal marketing, as well as facilitating marketing within the community.
  2. Coordinate bulk mailings and electronic marketing to promote exhibits
  3. Districtwide Art Department recruitment on digital media and creation of an Art districtwide newsletter.
  4. Prepare / adjust art images for web applications through Adobe Photoshop.
  5. Social media updates on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  6. Complete graphic design projects for Division 3 for flyers, posters, and mailers.
Other duties as assigned

This is a regular part-time position, working between 20-25 hours per week with retirement benefits. Additionally, employees are eligible to take up to 3 credits per semester through the Tuition Waiver Program.

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

- Associate's degree in an art related field
- Knowledge of web design
- Knowledge and experience in an art related field
- Graphic Design experience in creating marketing, social media, and promotional materials (print and online).
-Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office for communications and promotions (internal and external).
- Excellent customer service skills including in-person and telephone
- Basic computer skills (Email, Internet, Microsoft Word, etc.)
- Accuracy and attention to detail

Preferred Skills & Abilities

- Bachelor's degree in art related field
- Experience in Graphic Design and the creation of newsletters, postcards, flyers, and posters.
- Experience in digital media specifically Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
- Experience in recruitment at the community and high school level and the ability to foster emerging artists by putting on Art shows for the area High Schools
- Extensive background in the arts
- Supervisory/management experience
- Previous work experience in an art gallery
- Work experience in a community college/higher education environment
