The Morgridge College of Education (MCE, the College) at the University of Denver is accepting applications for an Accounting and Grants Specialist. This position is full-time, temporary, and non-benefited, working up to 37.5 hours per week for a duration of no longer than 6 months. MCE is a graduate professional school dedicated to creating positive change by unleashing the power of learning. Position Summary

The Morgridge College of Education is hiring a full-time, temporary, non-benefited position that serves as the Accounting and Grants Specialist. This position is responsible for performing and managing a variety of business functions for the College, reporting to the Assistant Dean of Budget and Operations at Morgridge. The position works directly with faculty, department chairs and heads, and our student organization in communicating financial information and ensuring compliance with DU policy and other best practices.

Essential Functions

  • Process all activity related to disbursements for the College, to include preparing purchase orders, invoice payment processing and reimbursement requests.
  • Work with Grants Administrator on grant reporting.
  • Provide reporting on fund balances and activity to faculty for both internal and external funding sources.
  • Assist in providing monthly operating financial reporting and analysis to Deans, and faculty department chairs.
  • Assist in reconciling financial aid endowed funds, ensuring aid commitments stay within budget.
  • Maintain the Colleges DU Portfolio page which provides guidance to faculty and staff regarding business processes.
  • Serve as liaison to Colleges student organization leadership team, primarily in financial matters.
  • Pre-review employee P-Card reports for accuracy and coding.
  • Prepare standard monthly and periodic ad hoc journal entries.
  • Enter external contracts into the Workflow process, reviewing for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform other business processes and services as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with management personnel, staff and outside stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports and data.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Ability to comprehend contractual documents.
  • Strong customer service skills and well-developed communication skill level.
  • Utilizes skills in problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-year degree and two years of relative experience in administration, business, or financial management, or equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite as well as use of office equipment.
  • Experience in ERP software (Banner, SAP, PeopleSoft, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher, plus 2 years of relative experience in administration, business, or financial management.
  • Direct experience in higher education with similar financial responsibilities.

Hourly Rate

Hourly rate for this position ranges from $22 - $25/hour.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
