Ability to work independently, perform well under pressure, meet deadlines and exercise good judgmentResponsibilities The Community Program Assistant position is designed to assist in administrative and technical work in support of cancer prevention programming and intervention initiatives. This person will assist in planning, implementation, data collection, data entry, and careful, exact documentation within the contract/grant and institutional guidelines. The position will include work with a contract/grant to provide training and education in faith-based and community sites on risks of breast, multiple myeloma, and prostate cancers and encourages screenings in those eligible and encourages smoking cessation in current smokers. The grant uses the train-the-trainer approach and trains community health workers (CHWs) to deliver the education. Data is also obtained on screening behaviors, perceptions, and attitudes toward breast, cervical, colorectal, and prostate cancer. Goals are to improve early detection and improve health outcomes related to these three cancers. The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Schedule project visits. Weekly follow-up with community members. Data collection, entry, and quality control. Maintain project files. Lead group sessions with parents and students. Assist with establishing and maintaining outstanding relationships with community partners. Attend meeting with community partners.
  • Attending staff training and research meetings. Participating in project planning and development of research protocols while insuring adherence to accepted scientific research principal and community engaged approached.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Shift/Salary Shift: Days/M-F

Pay Grade: 13

Salary: $16.19/hr

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
