The Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University brings together a team of basic science researchers, clinicians, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators and patient support staff to create a community fostering innovation and care focused on improving the lives of our patients. This team approach is focused on patients across the state of Georgia and neighboring states providing access to more first-in-the-nation clinical trials, world-renowned experts and a multidisciplinary approach that keeps the patient at the center of care. Research at the Georgia Cancer Center's M. Bert Storey Research Building focuses on the most promising pathways for the prevention and treatment of cancer. Several of our researchers are involved with investigator-initiated clinical trials, transitioning their research into the clinic.
This position is for a new Principal Investigator to the Georgia Cancer Center with the purposes of leading a team of cancer researchers to find innovative techniques to cure cancer. Hiring a distinguished Principal Investigator will help the Cancer Center reach its goal of attaining Nation Cancer Institute (NCI) designation.Responsibilities
The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). - Obtain and maintain extramural grant funding for cancer research projects.
- Contribute a strong record of publications in high-impact and peer reviewed journals.
- Build and lead an independent research program while mentoring trainees and junior faculty.
- Engage in teaching activities and graduate school programs that are oncology focused.
- Collaborate with other Georgia Cancer Center faculty on research and teaching endeavors or other opportunities as they may arise.
