    Overview

    St. Edward's University seeks an energetic and creative individual to communicate the University's academic and scholarship programs to prospective transfer students, parents, community college representatives, and University partners for the purpose of counseling and recruiting qualified undergraduate transfer and non-traditional students. This individual will also initiate and lead the recruitment efforts to bring formerly enrolled students back to St. Edward's University for degree completion. This position serves as the point of contact for former students interested in re-entering and prospective transfer students and will be part of a team working to recruit all graduate and undergraduate transfer students to the University. The admission counselor will have primary responsibility for supporting undergraduate transfers and re-entering students throughout the enrollment process. This position will work closely with faculty and staff in delivering effective recruiting messages and events promoting groundbreaking programs that support creative thinking, critical analysis, global collaboration, lifelong learning, adaptation to change, and ethical behavior. The admission counselor is responsible for both meeting recruitment goals within assigned territories and developing and implementing successful strategies for recruitment.


    Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Recommend and initiate recruitment strategies for assigned programs and territories and manage enrollment progress.
    • Compile and analyze data to produce territory management reports and projections and recommend changes or enhancements to recruitment strategies.
    • Identify qualified students through outreach to community and traditional colleges, civic organizations, and local businesses.
    • Review applicant files for admission and scholarships and recommend decisions to the Director.
    • Monitor students' progress from inquiry stage through initial enrollment.
    • Participate in event planning and related recruitment projects.
    • Collaborate with faculty and other members of the university community in providing accurate information about our innovative graduate curricula to prospective students and partners.
    • Conduct preliminary degree audits for prospective transfer students
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
    • Experience working in the field of college admission and recruiting or at least three years of professional experience in business recruiting, sales, or higher education preferred.
    • Candidates must demonstrate strong oral/written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Experience communicating complex information to diverse audiences.
    • Must work effectively with a diverse student population.
    • This position requires high levels of energy, commitment, and initiative.
    • Experience making group presentations.
    • Personal computer experience required.
    • Ability to travel required.
    • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record required.
    • Ability to comply with workplace guidelines and attendance requirements.
    • Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
