24-Sep-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe Department of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the field of Black trans and/or queer studies. The department is especially interested in an interdisciplinary scholar whose work draws upon Black feminist/queer/trans radical thought and engages with critical, abolitionist, and/or decolonial frameworks. Historical period and geographical focus of research are open. Interdisciplinary scholarship is strongly encouraged.
The candidate’s research and teaching will demonstrate a solid grounding in Black studies and Black feminisms and their intersection with queer studies and/or transgender studies. Candidates will teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and should demonstrate an ability to teach required courses in the department's curriculum as well as those in the candidate's area of expertise. Candidates will likely have training in fields such as anthropology, art history, Black or Africana studies, English, ethnic studies, film studies, geography, history, performance studies, sociology, women and gender studies, or other related fields.

Who We AreThe Department of Women and Gender Studies (WGST) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) has experienced rapid growth over the past few years and is searching for a candidate to complement its interdisciplinary and intersectional focus. WGST offers an undergraduate bachelor of arts degree, a minor, and certificates in LGBTQ Studies and Global Gender & Sexuality Studies as well as a graduate certificate for CU students enrolled in another disciplinary master’s or doctoral degree program. The WGST faculty is composed of 12 core and 17 associated members from over 12 different departments or programs across campus. Over 145 students are enrolled in our undergraduate program, which strives to foster critical thinking skills applied to the study of women and gender, particularly in relation to our three key areas of concentration: race/ethnicity, sexuality, and global/transnational studies.
